About Hospice: What it is & Why You Should Care

Elderly Care Interaction

What is hospice?

Hospice is a special healthcare option for patients who are faced with a terminal illness. Hospice workers constitute a team of physicians, nurses, hospice aides, social workers, bereavement counselors, administrators, and volunteers dedicated to providing care for people facing end-of-life.

Hospice care can be provided in a hospital, at home, or in an inpatient hospice facility. Location of hospice care depends on the patient’s medical needs and support system.

Why is it important?

Workers in hospice address the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of each patient and family. Hospice care is dedicated to improving quality of life amongst patients who face terminal illness. Death is the final stage of life, and hospice care helps people live through this last stage comfortably.

So, how can we help?

  • This may result in patients not expressing all of their wishes due to fear of becoming a burden

Here’s where we come in…

At BH4H, we work to provide services that allow patients to express the wishes that hospice centers and families may not have the bandwidth to fulfill. Through our wish request process, extra burdens do not land on families, and patients have the opportunity to have their final wishes fulfilled.
